Joint Forest Clean-Up Drive in Gazipur by MC Zirakpur, Green Planet Society, and Pukaar – The Voice of Humanity

Zirakpur, In a collaborative effort to preserve and restore the natural beauty of Gazipur forest, Municipal Corporation (MC) Zirakpur, Green Planet Society, and Pukaar - The Voice of Humanity joined forces for a comprehensive clean-up drive. The initiative aimed to address environmental concerns arising from plastic waste, particularly debris accumulated during the July floods in Punjab.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students from Gazipur Government School, who volunteered their time and energy to contribute to the environmental cause. Notable environmentalist and youth activist, Mr. Vishal Rana, renowned for his commitment to a 75-day Swachhta Challenge, actively engaged in cleaning the area, setting an inspiring example for others.

The leadership of Green Planet Society, including President Sumit Bhardwaz and General Secretary Jagbir Mehla, along with Kamal Kishore Soni and Srikant, played pivotal roles in organizing and coordinating the successful clean-up drive. Their dedication to environmental sustainability was evident throughout the event.

Mrs. Shivani Raina, President of Pukaar, took the opportunity to showcase innovative solutions by demonstrating benches made of Eco bricks, emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly alternatives in waste management.

Sukhvinder Singh, Coordinator of Swachha Bharat at MC Zirakpur, and the dedicated Safai Sewak Team of MC actively participated in the drive, further strengthening the community's commitment to a cleaner and greener environment.

The joint effort demonstrated the power of collaboration between civic authorities, environmental organizations, and engaged citizens. By addressing the aftermath of the floods and actively involving the local community, the clean-up drive not only contributed to the restoration of Gazipur forest but also served as a beacon of environmental responsibility for future initiatives.
