Green Planet Society and CRPF’s 5 Signal Battalion Join Hands to Develop Miyawaki Forests in Zirakpur and Chandigarh tricity.

In a significant move towards environmental conservation and sustainable development, the Green Planet Society (GPS) and the 5 Signal Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the establishment of Miyawaki forests in the regions of Zirakpur and Chandigarh.

The MOU signing ceremony took place head quarters of 5 Signal Battalion, CRPF, Hallo Majra, Chandigarh marking the official commencement of this ambitious joint venture between the renowned non-profit organization, GPS, and the CRPF's 5 Signal Battalion. The main objective of this partnership is to promote ecological balance, enhance biodiversity, and contribute to environmental conservation in the respective areas.
As per the terms and conditions of the MOU, GPS will provide its expertise, method know-how, and technical guidance for the development of the Miyawaki forests. The society will play a crucial role in offering consultation services related to plant species selection, land preparation, planting techniques, and overall forest development.
On the other hand, CRPF's 5 Signal Battalion will contribute essential resources to ensure the successful implementation of the project. This includes providing the necessary manpower, including personnel with expertise in horticulture and afforestation. The battalion will also supply suitable plant species for the Miyawaki forests, along with essential tools and equipment required for plantation and maintenance activities.
Furthermore, CRPF will ensure a steady water supply for the irrigation of the newly established Miyawaki forests. Adequate arrangements shall be made to ensure that the plants receive sufficient water during their initial growth stages.
Speaking about the partnership, a representative from GPS stated, "We are thrilled to collaborate with CRPF's 5 Signal Battalion in this noble endeavor. By combining our expertise in environmental conservation with the battalion's resources and manpower, we aim to create thriving Miyawaki forests that will not only enrich the biodiversity but also act as a sustainable ecosystem for future generations."
Both Parties have committed to closely collaborate and coordinate their efforts throughout the project's duration, which is set to commence from this month. GPS will primarily oversee the technical aspects, while CRPF's 5 Signal Battalion will manage the logistical and operational aspects of the project.
The MOU also outlines that each Party will be responsible for its own funding and expenses related to its designated tasks within the project. GPS will cover the costs associated with the method know-how and monitoring, while CRPF will bear the expenses related to manpower, plants, water, tools, and equipment.
The duration of the MOU is set for 3 Years, during which the partners will work together to achieve the establishment and maintenance of the Miyawaki forests.
In case of any amendments or termination, both Parties have agreed that any changes to the MOU will be made in writing and duly signed by their authorized representatives.
With this partnership, the Green Planet Society and CRPF's 5 Signal Battalion have set a remarkable example of collaboration and dedication towards creating a greener and more sustainable environment for the communities in Zirakpur and Chandigarh regions. The development of Miyawaki forests is expected to have a positive and lasting impact on the local ecosystem, providing valuable green spaces for generations to come.
